Hi everyone, and welcome to my new blog! My name is Alex, and I’m a college student and college athlete navigating life on campus while managing multiple food allergies. If you’re reading this, you might know firsthand how overwhelming it can feel to balance academics, athletics, social life—and then add the constant vigilance required to stay safe while eating. For me (and for many of you!), food isn’t just fuel for training and classes; it’s something I have to think about every single day, in every dining hall, restaurant, social or team event.

I started this blog because I know I’m not alone. More and more college students live with food allergies, and yet resources can sometimes feel scattered, outdated, or not specific enough to college life. My goal here is to create a space that’s honest, practical, and supportive. I’ll be sharing my personal experiences—from navigating dining halls to advocating for myself on campus. I also want to highlight strategies that make life a little easier, like how to prep safe snacks, what questions to ask food service staff, and ways to stay social without feeling left out.

Most importantly, I want this blog to be about community. Food allergies can feel isolating, especially in a setting where everyone seems to bond over late-night pizza or team dinners. But you are not alone, and neither am I. Together, we can share stories, tips, and encouragement to make college life safer, healthier, and more enjoyable.

Thanks for joining me at the start of this journey. Whether you have food allergies, know someone who does, or just want to learn more, I’m glad you’re here. Let’s figure out campus life with food allergies—one meal at a time.

Wrap Up: Here are some of my favorite Go-To snacks for when I’m on the run. This box of MadeGood Granola Bites are delicious and individually packaged.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

” Living with food allergies is a daily reminder of the strength that comes from embracing our vulnerabilities.”
